Current Projects

Current projects at Floatainer Systems
include the development of an airboat for a New Zealand customer.
The shape resembles more a high-speed planing hull then
the more conventional airboat. Power is provided by a 200hp
Subaru petrol motor, driving double 800mm propellers. A specialist designer
has provided the propellor design through the application of the latest
state-of-the-arts software.
the latest Cruise speed is 100km/hr and top speed 140km/hr.
The craft is specifically designed for the large tidal harbours in the Raglan region.
These harbours expose up to 75% of their area during low tide.
The exposed areas are predominantly mudflats, which retain a
thin veneer of water on their surface with a friction co-efficiency resembling ice.
The plane area of the hull is just 0.75 m sq. The hull components were produced using
a CAD/CAM process and arrived at the workshop ready for assembly.
Floatainer Systems are also building conventional runabout hulls for
one of New Zealand?s leading boat manufacturers under contract.
We have also undertaken to develop jigging systems to speed up assembly times.
These are being developed within our own operation and will be made
available to the parent company once proven.
